01 Overview

You’ve Got the Truck, We’ve Got the Crew

Sometimes you don’t need a full move, you need strong, experienced hands. Maybe you rented a truck for a cross-country drive, you’re filling a pod for storage, or you bought a houseful of furniture that has to come off a trailer. Spartan Moving and Storage provides loading and unloading labor with our own uniformed crew, the same people who run our full moves.

From an Over-the-Rhine walk-up to a Mason colonial, Spartan Moving and Storage writes the whole job as one flat number up front and holds it — no extra lines once the truck is loaded.

Real Movers, Not an App Full of Strangers

Labor-only doesn’t mean a couple of random bodies. You get actual Spartan movers, trained, uniformed, and equipped with pads, straps, and dollies. We’re a licensed Ohio company, and the crew that shows up to load your rental is held to the same standard as our full-service jobs. No day labor, no broker handing your address to whoever’s available.

Loaded Tight, So It Survives the Drive

A rental truck loaded loose is a furniture graveyard by the time it hits the highway. Our crew loads tight and weight-balanced, straps off the tiers, and pads between pieces so nothing shifts on I-71, I-75, or a long interstate pull. On the unloading end, we get it off and into the right rooms.

  • Load or unload your rental truck, pod, trailer, or container
  • Tight, balanced loading planned to survive a long-distance drive
  • Stairs, hillside carries, and full basement steps handled, with floor protection laid down
  • Pads, straps, and dollies supplied by the crew, not just labor

Built for Cincinnati’s Tough Spots

Third-floor OTR walk-ups, steep Mt. Adams streets, no driveway and street-parking-only blocks, full basements with narrow stairs, this is the everyday terrain our crew works. We lay heavy floor runners against winter salt and slush on the carry path and plan the order so the lifting goes smoothly.

Honest Hourly Pricing

Labor is billed by the hour at fair Spartan rates, and the $90 you put down credits to your final bill. No padded minimums, no surprises. We can also split the job, load on one day in Cincinnati and unload another day at the destination if you’re driving the truck yourself, so you’re only paying for the hands you actually need at each end. • Heavy lifting up and down OTR staircases, hillside walks, and full basement steps

  • Floor protection laid against winter salt, snow, and slush on the carry path
  • Hourly labor at honest Spartan rates, with the $90 you put down credited to the final bill

How we land on the price

We open with a short walkthrough or video survey, then set one flat Greater Cincinnati rate off your actual inventory — no hourly meter buried anywhere inside it. Whatever that quote reads is the whole price, with nothing tacked on once the truck is loaded or a winter storm pushes the date.

02 How we protect your move

Your things get handled the way we would handle our own

Each truck rolls out stocked with pads, shrink film, and heavy floor runners — ready to blanket furniture, keep hardwood and stair treads clean through snow and salted-street slush, and cushion the fragile pieces, whether it is a narrow Over-the-Rhine row house with original stairs, a full basement to clear in West Chester, or a hillside place on Mt. Adams where the only parking is the street.

Quilted pads

Dressers, dining tables, and headboards are blanketed right where they stand, padded up well before anything starts down the stairs.

Stretch film

Drawers stay shut and cushions stay clean — wrapped tight so road salt, slush, and a wet walk to the truck never touch the fabric.

Floor & stair guards

Runners down, banisters wrapped, jambs padded — the first thing we do at both homes, so steep original staircases and corners come through untouched.

Built-to-fit crating

In the room, before anything fragile leaves it, we measure a mirror, glass top, framed piece, or flat screen edge to edge and build the crate snug around it.

Break-down & rebuild

Bed frames, tables, and sectionals come apart to ride safe down tight stairwells, and our crew reassembles every one once it is through the new door.

Straps, dollies & gear

A fourth-floor walk-up downtown, a long haul up from a full basement, or the heaviest single piece in the house — each gets the right tie-downs, stair-climbers, and rigging off our truck.

03 Why us

The name painted on the truck is the name signed at the bottom of your estimate

Hire Spartan Moving and Storage and the truck at the curb is ours, the estimate is ours, and the uniformed crew easing your couch down a narrow OTR staircase is on our own Greater Cincinnati payroll — your move is never sold off to someone else. A broker runs it backward: they shop your job to whoever bids cheapest that week, pocket the spread, and wash their hands of it.

Spartan Moving and Storage
  • Our trucks, our fleet, and the full-time background-checked movers in them are on our own payroll — we never round out a crew with labor pulled off a listing
  • The number we put in writing is the number you pay — set, signed, and correct to the dollar before a single box leaves the room
  • One crew the whole way through, from the first piece down the old stairs to the last one carried into the new place
  • Full insurance backs every job, with cargo coverage up to $1,000,000; on top of that we carry the Ohio (PUCO) household-goods license and USDOT/MC authority that interstate runs require
  • One point of contact at our Cincinnati office, alongside you from the first call to the last box set down inside
What a broker does
  • Hands your move to whatever crew underbids the rest in the week you happened to call
  • Lets the total creep up once the truck arrives, padded with charges nobody mentioned the day you booked
  • Walks strangers you have never spoken to through your front door, handing your whole household to a crew nobody can vouch for
  • Leaves you guessing whose policy pays the day a dresser corner gouges a wall on the way down the stairs
  • Drops a call center between you and whoever finally turns up to load, so one plain question becomes a runaround

Questions we hear about this service

I rented my own truck. Can you just provide the muscle to load it?
Yes. Labor-only is a real part of what we do. You bring the truck, pod, or trailer, and we bring uniformed Spartan movers with pads, straps, and dollies to load or unload it. It's our actual crew, not day labor off an app, so the lifting and the loading are done right.
Can you load it tight enough that nothing breaks on a long drive?
That's the whole point of having pros load it. We weight-balance the load, strap tiers off, and pad between pieces so the stack doesn't shift on I-71 or a five-hundred-mile interstate run. A badly loaded rental truck is how furniture gets wrecked, and a tight load is what you're paying our crew for.
It's a third-floor walk-up and the truck has to park on the street. Is that a problem?
Not for us, it's a typical Cincinnati job. Our crew handles the stairs, the long curb-to-door carry on street-parking-only blocks, and the hillside walks. We lay floor protection on the path and bring the dollies and straps. Labor is billed by the hour, and the $90 you put down comes off the final total.
